This past Saturday the church had a field trip to the Old State Capitol in downtown Baton Rouge. We had about 20 kids and about 10 adults, so there was a good group. First we looked around outside while we waited for everyone to arrive.
Ella and Emma sitting patiently.
Jacob waiting patiently. Such a sweet smile.
Some of the menfolk waiting patiently.
Then we went inside to look around and watch a short film on the history of the building.
The building has a beautiful stained glass ceiling above the spiral staircase.
I’m a little prejudice toward this family – my son-in-law, daughter and their two sweet babies.
Grandpa stealing a kiss from a fat little cheek.
After touring inside, the children had fun playing on the hillside in front of the capitol.
Micah and Josiah
What you can’t see is the mud that was mixed into the grass, but the kids didn’t seem to mind.
The Shelby clan.
Then we crossed the street and went up onto the levee for a picnic lunch.
The Gonzaga’s along with Ella, Emma and Sarah.
Cesar & Laura
Noah with a wild hair do.
Rob and Carlo seeking out some shade.
Ella checking out the concrete walkway over our heads to make sure it was safe to stand under. After all, she is an engineer’s daughter!
All in all we had a wonderful time in downtown BR on a beautiful spring day.
“This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be lad in it.” Psalm 118:24
