Update on my daddy - May 18, 2013

After a dreadful experience at the rehab hospital, Daddy is now at the OLOL hospital. I won't go into the details but there are many a fault in a move that almost cost my father his life. From a rehab hospital liason who told the dr over the phone that he was ready to leave, to a dr. who listened to the liason and releases the man without even seeing him, to a rehab hospital who was not ready to deal with a man who was not urinating on his own, not transferring on his own, etc. I prayed last night as I could not sleep - seeking God's guidance for us. How faithful He is. Now Daddy is where he can get the necessary medical attention. He may have to go back to surgery as one of the pins has developed an infection. Please keep him and all of us in your prayers.

Update on my father:

Last night I spent the night up at the hospital and we had a rough night. A beginning bedsore meant he had to be turned every two hours. Add to those times up the other visits from the hospital staff and we got less sleep rather than more. Also, since we had downgraded his pain med because of his blood pressure, he woke up hurting a couple of times when he was on his injured side and we had to get a little creative in his positioning. In spite of the spotty sleep he was alert this morning and doing better than he has done thus far.

The good news is that he at the rehab hospital now. My sister will stay with him tonight and, if needed, Dale tomorrow night. After that he will be on his own. Please continue to pray for him - that God will strengthen his body and encourage his heart. Pray for my mom as she misses his constant loving care. Pray for my sisters and myself as we continue to minister to both of them. Most of all - praise our heavenly Father for his loving and faithful care to His children!!

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!! Many of you already know that my dad fell and broke his hip Saturday evening. The surgery went well on Sunday, but Monday and Tuesday were bad days with his blood pressure bottoming out at 83/34. He was almost non-responsive and very weak. BUT our Lord, who is merciful and great, laid His hand upon my father's weak flesh and today he had a great rehab. His blood pressure stayed low (104/49 range) but he was able to do some sitting exercises, feed himself lunch and then go to the gym and take a few steps!! Thank you most blessed Father in heaven for your mercies. Please continue to pray for my daddy as the road to recovery is just beginning.
